Phil Harris was one of the family. Not in reality, but in heart. I wish my parents were alive to watch the Deadliest Catch. It would have been their favorite show.

Maybe they are meeting him now. I hope so.

I will miss him so much and his openness. It’s not easy to just be yourself. He was that. I respect and admire the boys he left behind. They will do him proud, as they have in the past. They are a true everlasting tribute to him.

  2. Lothian says:

It looks like it was a beautiful ceremony. It is a testament to his character that so many people came out to say goodbye. He was so very loved that he will live forever.

  3. opilia says:

I agree Lothian. I think people from all over felt a connection with Phil. There was supposed to have been a limit of 2000 people at the ceremony but according it may have topped that and at one point there was over 35,000 people online, logged in for the live streaming…

  4. Stephanie says:

I have watched the show since it started, Phil was my favorite capt. He made you felt like you were family. My heart still hurts so much for Josh and Jake. Phil may have had health issues but it was his determination and his grit that made him even more endearing to fans and his love for his boys and for his crew. I wish I could have met him in person, he reminds me so much of my own father who has also passed on, he was just so open and so welcoming to everyone, everyone he came in contact with just instantly loved him and I loved him from the moment I “met” him on TV because he was just so open. I will miss him terribly. I was one of the people who watched the memorial online. I could not stop crying. RIP Phil, we love you and we’ll miss you, Thanks for the memories!
