Deadliest Catch: Ratings Record for premiere episode!

It was a record rating for ‘Deadliest Catch’!  …The premiere episode that aired just a couple of days ago–Tues 04/13/10–not only broke its own viewing record with a whopping 4.6 viewers tuning in to watch the premiere eppy, it also was the #1 prime time cable series for that night.  It’s Hot!

The Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 9PM premiere episode of DEADLIEST CATCH pulled in a 3.09 HH and a 2.66 P25-54 AA%, making it the highest-rated episode in series history among most key demos including HH, P2+, P/M25-54, P18-49, P18+ and P/M/W35-54 in delivery and ratings.  The season six premiere episode also earned a spot as one of the top 25 highest rated primetime telecasts in Discovery Channel history among P25-54.

The ratings success of DEADLIEST CATCH and CONSTRUCTION INTERVENTION made Discovery Channel the #1 cable network in primetime on April 13 for P/M 25-54 and P/M 18-49

“Catch” reeled in 4.6 million viewers last night, many doubtless tuning in to see the late Capt. Phil Harris, who died in February after suffering a stroke. The tally made “Catch” the most-watched series on cable Tuesday night.

Yes, that is why I tuned into Catch….Kinda breaks your heart that Phil and Sig did a switch-a-roo with Jake and Jake which if this plays out for the whole King Crab season (the switch that is) that Jake would not be with his dad for his last king crab season.

  2. LeeInOceanside says:

Ironic isn’t it. Jake Harris on in the final days of his dads life is not even with his dad. All those years together on the boat and he has to be elsewhere. Then again if his attitude was’nt so bad towards his brother (sibling rivalry) he would have been with his dad and this exchange of deckhands with the Northwestern would’nt have taken place.

  3. Lori says:

I believe the exchange was talked about in an episode last season on ‘After the Catch’, so this was something in the works for a while. We can’t live for what might happen tomorrow – I believe in Phil and Sig and their judgements and hopefully it will inevitably, make both “Jakes” a better person. And yes, I too thought that it is a shame that Jake would not be with his dad for King Crab season, but we don’t know what happens and maybe they will switch back (that’s just my thoughts and in no way reflects what may or may not happen).

Yes I agree. It’s very bittersweet, isn’t it? Although they probably finished with King crab around Thanksgiving and they would have had the holidays together and several weeks of Opilio at least.
