New Discovery blog: Inside the Catch

Discovery must have decided not to keep “Deadliest Catch” fans in the dark during these long winter months.  Good thing!  So in following suite to their earlier blog called Production Diaries that was written by Doug Stanley and offered us glimpses of what was to come in each episode of season 3, Inside the Catch will likewise, give us clues about season 4.  (Links to all  future Inside the Catch posts will be stored in Truth or Fishtales here on Deadliest Reports)

Love it here. Love the updates. Quite a fan forum at the Crab Brokers. Several people are very upset over WalMart and Sig selling Russian Crab. They did have note that the Cornelis Marie is in quite heavy 30 ft seas and 80 mph winds. Wont make it to the Pacific Marine Expo. Ragnilds Cheesecake recipe is printef over there. Take care all and Happy Thanksgiving Opilio and friends.

  6. opilia says:

Thanks Carol. Always great to hear from a Deadliest Catch fan. Yes, about the high seas, I’ve just posted something about that. The cheesecake receipe has been posted here for the last 6 months or so. And of course, I’ll be dealing with the crab issue in my own way probably later this weekend. thanks for the updates. Oh and I’ve got a little expo info you may want to read later. Happy Holidays to you!

Who will be returning aborad the Time Bandit?

  8. opilia says:

    Becky
I know that the Hillstrands are all returning of course–Johnathan, Andy, Neal. Russell Newberry is also going to be one. I know they have a new deckhand–at least new for the TB. I understand he hails from Hawaii but is an experience fisherman. Any others, I dont know for sure….

  9. Sherry says:

Opilia, Whats this about Sig and WalMart selling Russian Crab? Hadn’t really heard much about it. Just a bit here and there. Hope it doesn’t really amount to much trouble!

  10. opilia says:

Hi Sherry. I know that he’s pretty much not the one selling crab. I can’t imagine it would be much trouble at all. Sig Hansen and the Northwestern’s image are on boxes of King crab. The crab that comes from Trident Seafoods is Alaskan king crab and the crab coming from Global foods is imported Russian crab. You can read about it right on the Northwestern site. Here’s the link:

…And thank you for reading my blog!

  11. Martin says:

How do the crab get into the pods? I know they are lured by bait but they seem to be too big to in? If they can get in, can they also easily get out?

  12. John says:

I love Deadliest Catch. I have watched many marathons on Discovery and love to bundle up on a cold day with my down comforter and watch the fishermen in Alaska. I live near Seattle where many of boats take off from. The bar from After The Catch is Seattle’s Lockpot on the Ballard Locks.

To fill my time between seasons, I have found a similar show on History Channel called Ax Men. It uses the same format as Deadliest Catch and is quite compelling televison. Instead of 4 fishing outfits in Alaska, the show documents 4 logging outfits in Oregon and tallies the timber count in the same way DC tallies the crab count.

  13. please explain to me how the crabs get in the pods when the pods are closed when they hit the water? Oh and by the way I LOVE YOU ALL very much and thanks for busting your a—–es for me to eat crab.

  14. i love all you guys on the time bandit hi andy and johnathan
