I’ve read the blogs and heard the stories of the abundance of fans in Dover, Delaware that greeted the Deadliest Catch skippers and deckhands also known as :”The Bad Boys of the Bering Sea”. Ron MacArthur from the Cape Gazette reports the same in his own words…
“Fans mob ‘Deadliest Catch’
stars during stop in Dover
Captains and crews of the Discovery Channel’s Emmy-nominated series, “Deadliest Catch,” discovered a little more than a boatful of crabs on a trip to Delaware – they found out they are famous.
Hundreds of fans turned out Saturday, Aug. 11, at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino to get an autograph during a two-hour meet-and-greet session.
The event was beyond anyone’s expectations, said spokeswoman Lisa Butler. “They signed and signed – they tried so hard to accommodate everyone,” Brown said. “The public relations campaign is pretty new to them, and I think they were bowled over here. I have my fingers crossed that they will be back next year.”
Crewmembers at the event were captains Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand of Time Bandit, Capt. Larry Hendricks of Sea Star and deckhands Jake and Josh Harris of Cornelia Marie.
They signed shirts, hats, slips of paper and newspaper clippings and posed for photographs with adoring fans. They made a special effort to sign items for young fans who easily got lost in the mass of people.
As the two brothers signed autographs in tandem, Jake Harris paused for a moment and seemed to be awestruck by the turnout. “We are just fisherman,” he said with a laugh.” (continued)
