Deadliest Catch Music: ROB DICKINSON
Song featured in Deadliest Catch: Storm
This is another song that’s featured at the end of an episode…Specifically, it plays as the crew of
the Cornelia Marie are on deck, on the grind, hauling in crab. Thanks to another fan, we know the episode was Crossing The Line. Rob Dickinson has been around for some time. He originally hails from England and put out 6 albums with a previous band. Then he seemed to spend a few years away from music and now has emerged as a single artist. This is part of what is written on Rob’s website…Dickinson it seems is a complicated man. What he has very definitely been doing is writing songs. Whatever merit his past with the band may confer on him, Dickinson’s inevitable stardom would appear to be as a solo artist with a breathtaking new collection of music celebrating the extremes of the human spirit. If ever a slice of modern rock music deserved the adjective ‘deep’ “Fresh Wine For The Horses” is it. You may listen to a sample of the track Storm on the Home page of his website–it’s selection #8. You can also visit Rob’s myspace and listen to other song selections such as My Name Is Love.
Here is an acoustic version of the song Storm
Deadliest Catch Music: JON HEINTZ
Song/Score featured in Deadliest Catch: RAIN
05/25/07 You know…that new Song at the end of the last Deadliest Catch Episode that’s been baffling everybody? MYSTERY SOLVED! Thanks of course to Jon Heintz, Greg (for leading us to Jon), and everybody else for being so peristent in looking for information on this elusive artist! At the end of episode 8, Caught In The Storm, we were introduced to a brand new Deadliest Catch song called ”Rain”. It’s by Jon Heintz who now has a brand new myspace. Check it out but keep in mind that he just got it up and
going today so it’s a work in progress. You can listen to “Rain” while you’re there and for now, we get to download it for free! I sent him a little message earlier and he was generous enough to respond. He seems surprised and happy with the inquiries so I will post his message here for all of us…
What can I say…I’ve kinda been layin’ pretty low for the last couple of years…I just relocated from Los Angeles to Washington DC so I’m a little behind when it comes to getting my music out there. I got this song placed in Deadliest Catch and people seem to dig it…which is great…and I’m getting phone calls and emails about the song…which is great…and people are trying to find it on the internet…which is great…and until this morning I didn’t even have a myspace account…which is not so great. So now I’m playing catch up…trying to build my sight quickly…as of now people can download “Rain” for free and I’ll post the lyrics ASAP…The good news is I have a lot of other recordings so I’ll try to get them up quickly as well. If you have any specific questions I’d be happy to answer them. Thanks so much for your help and for taking the time to find me out here in the digital universe.Jon Heintz
If you’re a myspacer, drop him a note or request to be added as a friend that way when he comes out with the other new tunes he’s got in the works, he can send us all a bulletin about it!

Deadliest Catch Music: SUPERSUCKERS
Song/Score featured in Deadliest Catch: PAID
05/08/07 Man…I no sooner post about Indigenous and…Bam! More new music on this episode of Deadliest Catch! Supersuckers rock! The song featured on tonight’s episode–The Last Lap–is Paid. You may have heard the lyrics, “…Gotta work, Gotta get paid!”. It comes from their album of the same name, PAID, and you can listen to it and a few other Supersucker tracks on their website. They’ve been around for some time, they’re not shy, and there’s alot of info available on these guys. Catch videos of Supersuckers on youtube, and check out their myspace. And what a coincidence that they hail from the same area as so many of our favorite Deadliest Catch fishermen–Seattle! Read part of their bio…
“THE GREATEST ROCK N’ ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD
You’ve heard our name, you’ve seen our records, our t-shirts and our stickers. We’re probably the favorite band of someone you know and yet we’re still a mystery to you. Well my friend, that’s okay, I’m here to fill you in and help you to get to know the greatest rock-n-roll band in the world, The Supersuckers.
Our story is almost impossible to believe. This band is literally a human cartoon. We all grew up among the dead-ends and cactus needles of Tucson, Arizona and have known each other since grade school. We graduated from the same high school together at the same time (a school immortalized in our song “Santa Rita High”) and we chose to play in a band together because we liked to hang out together, not because we were great musicians or anything. I truly believe that a band is defined by their limitations, that what they can’t (or won’t) do is just as important as what they can do. I guess that, in this era of pre-fabricated, put-together-to-have-a-hit bands, we’re kind of an aberration and I gotta tell ya that that makes us smile a little every day.
We formed the band in 1988 and we were initially a five piece called The Black Supersuckers (a name found in some quality “adult literature” we had laying around in our impeccably clean band house), with me on bass, Dan “Thunder” Bolton and Rontrose Heathman on guitars, Dancing Eagle on drums and a lead singer by the name of Eric Martin. After firmly proving ourselves to be the best band in town we decided it was time to get out of Tucson and try our luck somewhere else. So we tossed a coin with heads as New Orleans and tails as Seattle. Tails it was and in May of ‘89 we packed up and went north.
We had no idea that Seattle was about to become “Rock Mecca USA” we just wanted to go somewhere where we could wear our leather jackets a little more often. It was exciting and encouraging to see all of the great bands there, doing their own thing and making some kick-ass, aggressive rock-n-roll that we could relate to, so we started recording immediately. After some classic “creative differences” with our lead singer, we decided to try it as a four piece with yours truly as the singer (I was the only one who knew all the words) and The Supersuckers, as you may or may not know them today, were born. ”

Deadliest Catch Music: INDIGENOUS
Song/Score featured in Deadliest Catch: LEAVING
05/08/07 The music of Indigenous: The F/V Timebandit crew spent a little time hauling crab to the soulful, bluesy beat of Indigenous last week. The tune seems to have caught the ear of a lot of Deadliest Catch fans, including myself. The lead singer, writer, guitarist of this group is Mato Nanji. He and his brothers and sister–all native-american–formed a band in the late 90’s and seemed to become immediately successful and very productive. This from the Indigenous website…
Mato first formed the band with his brothers and sister back in the late 90’s. They
released Things We Do in 1998 and the family band from Nakota Tribe of South Dakota never expected the mass reception they received from the blues and rock communities. As with some bands that are together for a long time, the siblings were eager to try new directions and explore their own musical potential.
Now, this new Indigenous CD, Chasing The Sun, finds Mato expressing himself as never before. His songs, his instrumental skill, always critical to the band’s success, thrust his abilities to the spotlight. Some of the highlights on the CD include, “Runaway” and “The
Way You Shake.” with all the Indigenous trademarks, explosive guitar hooks, inventive solos, and an inexorable sense of rhythm ala Jimmy Reed. “Fool Me Again,” one of the disc’s pivotal moments and first single, finds Mato in Robert Cray mode, with a gorgeous guitar motif, inspired solos and the record’s most memorable chorus.
Produced by Indigenous and Steve Fishell, Chasing The Sun, is sure to bring Mato a step closer to being hailed as the next great guitar hero!
To learn more, hear more of Indigenous, you may visit their myspace where you can also listen to a few of their tunes. To hear the song, Leaving featured last week on Deadliest Catch, check out amazon.com.

Deadliest Catch Music: BRUCE HANIFAN AND PAUL HEPKER
Song/Score featured in Deadliest Catch: DEADLIEST CATCH CD (see below for info)
05/05/07 The musical scores of Bruce Hanifan and Paul Hepker. Don’t know if anyone ever really noticed before, but starting as far back as Deadliest Catch season 1 or even Deadliest Season, each fishing vessel was assigned it’s own music clip, so that as we view an episode and we hear Mike Rowe say something to the effect, “Meanwhile, back on the Maverick…”, we hear specific F/V Maverick music. Same goes with when we view each crew while they’re “on the crab”, working away on deck. The music clips aren’t arbitrary–they’re fishing vessel and crew specific. And I speak of the instrumental scores, not actual songs such as by Vienna Teng or Silver
or the current Indigenous that we hear at other times. The music was written by Bruce Hanifan and Paul Hepker. You can visit Paul’s myspace and read up on other creative projects he’s involved in. While there, you can click on the Deadliest Catch itunes cd icon and go straight to itunes and see the listing of 22 scores of the Deadliest catch cd and listen to a clip of each selection…if you’ve been a fan for a while, many of them should sound familiar.
Bruce Hanifan also has his own website, and he says of Deadliest Catch “…This last year has brought some interesting and challenging projects to the table. I completed scoring for a ten-part series for DISCOVERY CHANNEL about Alaskan Crab Fishing called “Deadliest Catch”. The music has Americana elements, as well as intense drama, as the American fishermen are faced with various dangerous situations and ordeals. The highly acclaimed series premiered last spring and began its third encore broadcast this November. I’ve just been signed on to provide music for the second season of “Deadliest Catch”, airing early in 2006. I also will be scoring an additional series for DISCOVERY dealing with more of “the world’s deadliest jobs”. “

Deadliest Catch Music: BON JOVI
Song/Score featured in Deadliest Catch: WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE
04/14/07 The music of Bon Jovi: Jon Bon Jovi has been an incredibly productive and successful artist for many years. Per Widipedia…”Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi on March 2, 1962, is an American musician, actor and lead singer of the band, Bon Jovi”
You can read additional info on his bio and work at wikipedia, or if interested in details of all his work and his current touring schedule and appearances, please go to Jon’s website where there is a vast amount of information.(Great website!)
The song we’ve all become familiar with as the “anthem” of Deadliest Catch is of course, Wanted Dead or alive. It was originally released in 1987 on the Bon Jovi album titled Slippery When Wet. According to Wikipedia…
According to Wikipedia…”Slippery When Wet is the third studio album by Bon Jovi released on August 18, 1986. It is the band’s most commercially successful album, selling over 12 million copies in the US. Today it stands as one of the six best selling hard rock albums ever, and spawned two #1 singles, “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin on a Prayer”. The third single “Wanted Dead or Alive” was a Top 10 hit, reaching #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The fourth single, “Never Say Goodbye”, the album’s signature ballad, reached #28 on the strength of airplay alone. Slippery When Wet stayed at #1 for 15 weeks, the record for a hard rock album on the Billboard 200. The album is the band’s biggest selling album in the USA and the world. The album has sold over 27 million albums worldwide.
“Wanted Dead Or Alive” is currently the theme song to the television show Wanted, Dog The Bounty Hunter, and a short section for the opening theme of Deadliest Catch and was in the 1991 film Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
The song’s title pays homage to Jon’s admiration for Old West heroes, and how he identifies with them as being both liked (wanted alive) and hated (wanted dead). On the band’s Behind the Music special on VH1, it is even revealed that the band had originally planned to do an Old West-themed album in the 1980s, but scrapped the idea.
Due to its amazing popularity, Jon Bon Jovi declares this song to be their national anthem in some of their concerts today.
Bon Jovi also has their own myspace where you can listen to several of his tracks. (They have over a million friends!)
This is a youtube video of a 2006 Live New York City performance of Bon Jovi singing Wanted Dead or Alive. The original video is available to watch on Bon Jovi’s website.

Deadliest Catch Music–Vienna Teng
Song/Score featured in Deadliest Catch: BETWEEN
My first entry for the music of Deadliest Catch. Slowly but surely, I’ll be listing the music we hear in Deadliest Catch (They’re always such catchy tunes and we only get to hear a snippet of them during episodes). Vienna Teng is an artist who creates and sings lovely songs. One of them, Between, is repeatedly played in Deadliest Catch, mostly season 1, but a time or two in season 2 as well. If memory serves me right…and usually it does when it comes to Deadliest Catch, we hear the haunting melody of Between at the end of an episode as we watch the Maverick heading back out to sea for a second run of opilio crab in season 1.
(the video is only an album cover but it’s the music that is important…and it was one hard song to find.)
You can find Between on Vienna’s album titled Warm Strangers. If you’d like to hear more of her music, visit her myspace. There is also a Vienna Teng website, where there is a wealth of information about this artist…If interested, I recommend going there.

Deadliest Catch Music: SILVER
Song/Score featured in Deadliest Catch: TRANSMISSIONS & TURN IT UP
04/05/2007. Silver is a California-based indy band whose tracks have been featured in several television series. If you haven’t heard of them it’s because they’re still indy but they’ve been on the scene since 1999. Clips of two of their songs are heard in Deadliest Catch, season 1
and 2. They are Turn It Up and Transmissions. The track Turn It Up, has never officially been released on cd however, you can listen or download the song from Silver’s website here. You may also visit their myspace here and listen to Transmissions. On
their myspace you can view a video clip of scenes from different shows featuring their music including of course, Deadliest Catch. Silver’s music is catchy and will probably grow on you if you listen to it much…fair warning.
New addition here…Watch Silver’s musical autobiography and catch clips from all television shows their music is featured on…

Any idea what the track was on tonight’s Deadliest Catch? (May 1st) It was playing near the end and sounds a bit like Creed (though I’m sure its not). It was hard to catch the lyrics but something about “looking back” and “staring out through the rain”
Tonights track( may 1st) was called “leavin”, I caught that much on the end credits, but thats it. Not on itunes and too broad to search any other. Creed, seriously? I was thinking more like Kenny Wayne Shepard or something. Please someone do tell.
It’s a little too soon for me to be able to shed much light on tonight’s music. I do know for sure that Super Suckers and Me First and the Gimmes Gimmes have tracks in DC season 3…don’t know if that helps or not. If you find out, let us know!
yeh, last song was pretty good. Let us know if anyone knows who this is.
im trying to figure it out also ahaha someone email me if you get it im on a mission tonight i will post if i find out
Is this the one…Leaving by Indigenious?

I was all excited as soon as that song started! Indigenous is an awesome blues band and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them play live twice. I definitely recommend that everyone check out more of their stuff as soon as possible!
Including tunes like this make me love Deadliest Catch even more. What a great show!
Awesome music. Thanks Opilia.
I could have sworn that was Stevie Ray Vaughan, the guy sounds so much like him! I was searching frantically through my SRV collection looking for something like it
Indigenous is an awesome band and should be seen live if you can. They are a native american band that is very soulful and spirtual.
Check out the first album ‘Things we Do’
Thanks for sharing the info on Indiginous. When I heard that low strat growl, I had the same reaction as Mike; I thought it was SRV, who I really miss hearing. Nice to get a little more of that Texas blues, isn’t it?
Leaving…Wow, what a perfect edit. 40 seconds of video, that track and that crew, somebody nailed it.
Move over Capn Sig, you may be the best at hunting crab but someone just exposed this shows heart.
I’ve been google’ing and searching my butt off and i cannot find who plays the bagpipe/irish themed music that is on every show.
is it one of Paul Hepker’s pieces, or is it another artist
Is there a Stevie Ray Vaughn song on the second season? I think it is at the end of the last episode.
If anyone knows the title please email:
somellow10@aol.com
thanks
Hey guys…May 22 on Discovery, at the very end of the show, there was a song called “Rain”…the dang credits went by so fast i didnt get to see who it was by…it was a slower song, male voice….any ideas?
Thanks.
Hey there Jason, I heard that same song and just caught the name “Rain”. I tried looking up some of the main lyrics on the net, but couldn’t find a match.
The only lyrics I remember was: It’s going to come down, Change is going to come around…
Or something like that.
I caught the end of D.C. tonight and I believe it said “John Holtz?” I’m looking but can’t find anything! Argh!
I caught the name Jon Heintz but I cant find anything either. It may be the person who wrote the lyrics, not necessarily the performer, but I’ll keep looking
I think the name said Jason Becker… Really liked the music though.
Nope, not Jason Becker but I think it was a Jason
Yea I heard that song “rain” too and Ive been trying to figure out who its by
Haha, thanks guys…I did a search as soon as I heard the song, but yea, no luck
Greetings from Ontario Canada
Jay
I have posted on another site in hopes someone recorded it and if I find out the name of the artist I will post it over here as well.
Awesome, thanks a million…i see DC is on again here right after Mythbusters, but chances of me being up to try to catch the end credits are slim..
It is Jason Becker. The album is Perspective.
Yeah, I don’t see the point of the credits when they whiz by so fast. I think its a legal formality but nobody can read them.
Hey thanks Nikki, you are a saint!
I ran into Jason Becker, but the credits definitely said Jon Heintz…maybe music by Jason Becker, lyrics by Jon Heintz? And then who is the performer? I think Jason Becker is in a wheelchair and cant sing, if I understood right? Someone let me know if you find out…
It’s not Jason Becker. He does have a song entitled “Rain,” but as with most (if not all) of his songs, it’s a solo guitar piece - no lyrics. He composes neo-classical pieces similar to Yngwie Malmsteen.
This is driving me crazy. I won’t be able to sleep until I figure this out!
performed by Jon Heintz. I will check the TIVO again though.
I have been looking for the song all night..no luck so far!!
I think the performer could possibly be Broadhead - that band has a member named Jon Heintz. Furthermore, their video at the link below sounds similar genre-wise to the song featured on Deadliest Catch.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=79ELUfjXETU
hey guys, jay here again….little update for yas….yea, no update….been searching all night, still cant find anything…i may just try to contact Discovery channel or something like that….I WANNA KNOW!!!! lol
ok, so..e-mail sent to the producers of DC…maybe I will have an answer sometime soon
Thanks for looking Jason et al…I havent found anything either but sure would love to be able to post all about it. I know Discovery has a tendency to like indie bands and music that is not so mainstream…probably doesn’t help. I’ll keep looking too!
I went back to tivo and got all the info. I got a lead by going to the Amygdala Music website. Apparently they have licensed music to Deadliest Catch before - you can check it out in their archive. It looks like the show licensed this song “Rain” as well, although it is not mentioned on the site and Jon Heintz is not listed as one of their artists. It is possible that they don’t have the site up to date - most small companies don’t. Anyway, there is a contact link on the site http://www.amygdalamusic.com/. I liked the song a lot — reminds me a lot of Jackson Browne. You younguns will have to google him. hehe.
The song IS preformed by Jon Heintz. I don’t think he has released it in an album yet, becasue there is NO info out there about it. But he has another song that was released on the Sherrybaby soundtrack called Bound to Burn (check it out - VERY good song) however he switches up the spelling of his name John instead of Jon.
They should make a sound track fromD.C. All the music is great!!!!
I also thought the singer of the song Rain reminded me a lot of Jackson Brown. Sure would like to be able to buy the single. Let me know if anyone finds a download.
I need that song Rain also,,,help
The song “Rain” is available for free download on MySpace.
http://www.myspace.com/jonheintzmusic
Also: Jon Heintz and John Heintz are 2 different musicians…
OMG Greg!! YOU WIN THE GOLDEN CRAB AWARD! I checked out. He just signed on today on myspace and needs some friends. I asked him for more info…we’ll see what we can find out. Thanks much for the info!!!
Just downloaded. Beautiful song… Just watched the episode on TIVO and came right to the Internet and found this thread. I love the Internet!!! Thanks all!
yes thank you!!! that is it!! I’m a happy camper now
I Just Saw The Episode And i Have A D.V.R For My T.V So This Is The Info On That Song:
“Rain”
Written And Performed By Jon Heintz
Thank you! I downloaded it this morning.
Thanks for the free download. I’ve been lookin for the song for some time and having it free makes it all worth while.
No they are not. At least not the John Heintz I was refering to that sings Bound to Burn on the Sherrybaby soundtrack. The same Bound to Burn song that is also on Jon Heintz’s myspace page. Must be a mistake on the Sherrybaby album.
“RAIN” Great song
I have been trying to find the song “Storm” and “Rain” for months now and came up with 72 diffrent possibles before narrowing them down by lyrics. All the others were similar, but not right. It was driving me crazy. THANKS == I wasn’t haveing a weired blackout type thing brought on by a 1 year old with a temper.
Just a quick shout to you and your site: it’s fantastic to see such enthusiastic and literate fandom! I’ve spent many a late-night hour searching for info on a song I heard, playing net-detective, tracking down an elusive band or artist… Thanks to you all for your awesome support of this phenomenal series.
A quick answer to John’s May 15th question about the Irish ‘bagpipe’ music - hopefully the release of the Deadliest Catch CD will have answered that question: it’s a piece I did for the very first season. a Jackpot’o'Gold kinda Irish jig… I wanted something musical that would inject the same feeling of joy I’m sure the crew gets when their Pots come up loaded. Tech note: the piece is all done with samples - mostly Hurdy Gurdy, actually!
I’ll be posting some of the older Deadliest Catch themes on my website sometime - for old-time’s sakes. Perhaps your midnight ramblings will bring you there one day!
Peace,
Paul Hepker
Thanks so much Paul. I’ll post info on the newest Deadliest Catch music cd and I’ll check your site for music samples. Thanks for stopping by. I think that fans would agree that the music on “Deadliest Catch” is superb!!
who was the artist on tonights episode, and what is the name of the song they played last??? thank you
That song was by Jon Heintz. His music was also featured in season 3. The song is The Sound of my Voice. It’s featured on his myspace but unfortunately its unavailable right at this moment

What is the song that is played at the end of Episode 1 on Season 4??
Drew look at the comment above yours, that’s the info on the song. It’s Jon Heintz.
What is the song that is played in Season 4 Episode 3 “A Numbers Game” when the home movie is playing of the Hillstrands?
What is the name of the song at the end of Episode 1 of Season 4? The chorus is something like “When I’m old if I’m luck I can look back and smile.” Title or artist would be great, having no luck googling the lyrics. Thanks!
Ricky, read some of the last comments up above yours. The artist is Jon Heintz and the song is The Sound of my Voice. He’s on myspace.
Looking for the name and artist of the song from show late April or May 6th. About 10min into the show
OH my goodness — oh my lord - give me a sign
Big fan of the show. Thanks!!!
Does anyone know the song played at the end of the episode Heading Out To Sea?
My husband remarked that it was a good song and I tried to remember some lyrics so I could google them and when I got the computer, I forgot them. But I do remember it started off with something about “mutiny” and “ocean”. I know I’m not giving y’all a lot to work with but if anyone knows, I would appreciate it so much!
Jeff,
The song is called Oh Lord by Ken Will Morton and the Wholly Ghosts.
It is a good song!
follow the link above
I was also wondering what is the song that is played in Season 4 Episode 3 “A Numbers Game” when the home movie is playing of the Hillstrands? Its so good and I cant find it - does anyone know
