Carlos…It looks like season 3 premiered in South Africa in July of last year so I would imagine you will see season 4 sometime starting in July. Keep an eye on this site, and maybe they’ll post the information when they see it

Ten–From what I understand and from what Blake Painter said at an event a few months ago, the Maverick will not be featured in season 4. Blake just purchased his own boat recently.

I have just recently heard about this show and I think its freking incredible. I commercial fished onthe East Coast for about 5 years so I kind of feel like I know what going on. It is definately realistic. I was curious if there was anywhere to review the boats specificly. ie. Wieght, Length, Draw,ect… ? Ant suggestions would be great.

Last nights premiere left me biting my nails! In the opening when they slowly outlined all the captains and said not everyone would be coming back alive I almost fell over! has anyone heard anything about deaths during their season???

Sarah–No….havent heard anything at all about any deaths with regards to the featured fishermen. One of them has to leave at one point and isn’t able to come back, maybe thats what was meant?

I’m not Norwegian, and I don’t like king crab, but I do have two comments. I’m a geezer who spent two years at sea in ‘68-’69 on a 600ft U.S. Navy cruiser and I never had to walk the deck in the kind of conditions that these crab fishermen do. They told us to stay off the main deck when it got rough and these guys just go back to work. I’m impressed.
Also, after I got out of the Navy and went to UCLA , I knew a guy from Norway named Hansen who went back to Norway after we graduated. He looks a little like Sig–could they be related? His first name was Per.

I am a old US Navy Minesweep Sailer . I thought it was bad on a 172′ boat. We Sailed from the Middle East back to Virginia in 89. Was the worst Seas I have ever seen. It is the closest I can imagine ever coming to this, Minus the cold and wet. These men are Solid. I solute each and every one.

Is it me ?or can you tell mat on the northwestern sure looks like he is tweaking on drugs,I noticed it when he was giving the greenhorn a hard time,you could see his face twitch ,and then I noticed him talking to him self as he sat down on deck ,I can read lips and he was saying to him self ,come on, just,…then when he was eating on deck while sorting it seems hes come down off what ever it was,so thats why the previews next week show him attack Jake telling him so just shut up and do your job,cristal meth maybee?thats to bad the northwestern guys are so dedicated,his drug problem seems to have been brought on board,sure sounds dangerus,too bad,so sad,you gotta love those guys,its the best real show on tv,CANT WAIT FOR MORE

BRIDGIT I’ll have to pay attention to the episode you’re talking about. My career is in law enforcement and I have tons of experience with drunks and dopers. I commend Matt Bradley for working at correcting his problem. We don’t see people like him too often. Most of them don’t even make an attempt to get their lives back in order. I haven’t seen the episode in question, but it’s pretty bold to suggest that he’s still doped up, if in fact he’s not. The Northwestern crew is an INCREDIBLE group of men.

I love the Deadliest Catch. I lived in Alaska during the time it became a state. My dad who is in his 80’s still lives over half the year in Alaska– he was in Air Rescue back when Alaska was young — so I understand how dangerous life can be in Alaska — I once had an opportunity to go out on a fishing boat near Kenai. It was like a cake walk compared to what you do. I love to watch you guys — I love Alaska — I was sorry to hear about your medical trouble this year — I hope and pray that you will fully recover — your boat is my favorite — Sig might have had that distinction but I am a Swede and can’t make myself go down that road — well he’s my second favorite capt. anyway. I wish you and all the crews — the best — and safe fishing seasons from now on.

i really dont think Matt on the northwestern is on anything, yes he has had some problems in the past. hes said that on this show before, but who hasn’t. Aslo i have read that you cant have drugs on the bouts and if there a acsident the crew has to take a drug test.

I spent 15 years working in the coal business……..spent a lot of time 2 miles back in the mountain and in 3 to 6 foot of coal, so I know how difficult work surroundings can be but you guys are definitely the toughest s.o.b.’s I’ve seen. Just like coal miners, it takes a certain kind of individual to do this work and I really enjoy watching the show. I wish I was 20 years younger………..I would definitely love to try it!

I have lost two family members to the sea, one in the coast guard and one as a Lobster Fisherman. I know all too well the losses the sea can exact. My family comes from more than two centurys of sea farers, some fishermen, some captains of large sailing ships of old. The loss of the Big Valley hit me extremely hard, was as if they were my own family where I came to know them from the TV show and the work on a sea I am all to personally familiar with. May God take the crews of those lost to His kingdom for all time and then after.

Yes, most of them do. There’s salmon tendering, pot cod fishing, and herring. Although this year, it sounds like most of the featured fishermen from show are engaged in some major touring this summer.

I was fortunate enough to have a chance to ask Josh Harris how his dad was doing Friday night (6/20) in a small chat during the Deadliest Catch Xbox360 game launch party, and he said “he is on a day to day basis”. What that means exactly, I don’t know. He seems better from the spots of seen of him on TV since, but obviously Captain Phil needs to get nice and healthy. I gave a get well soon on behalf of all the fans.

Capt. Phil sufferred what is known as a pulmonary embolism. It starts off with blood clots that develop in the legs. If not found they can break loose and travel to your lung. It’s very dangerous and extremely life threatening to have one. Most of the time when someone has a blood clot travel through the heart and land in the lung it will Kill them immediately. Capt. Phil was extremely fortunate to have survived it. Now that the Dr’s know what it is and and where it is I am sure they started him on Heparin and other clot busting drugs while he was in ICU. Once the initial clot in the lung is dissolved to prevent other clots from breaking lose and another pulmonary emolis from occurring most patients are put on a medication called COUMADIN. Coumadin is a very strong blood thinner. Once your on it you have to have your Coumadin levels monitored on a regular basis to make sure the drug is at a theraputic level in your system. ” Theraputic” basically means the medication is coursing through your veins at a strength to prevent your blood from forming clots. I’m sure Phil will be required to go to his Dr. for weekly if not more frequent tests of his coumadin level. The test is done with a simple finger stick. The main thing when one is on coumadin is that you are subject to free bleeding. So one must be really careful of injuries and such while on the medication because basically your blood will not clot like normal. Hope this helps clear some of this up for some folks.

Phil needs to be very careful and cooperate with the Coumadin level testing. I had a friend who was on this blood thinner and would suffer the occasional “dump”. In other words, her body would stop processing the Coumadin and stockpile it, then release it all into her system. This usually ended up with nasty things like transfusions and hospital stays. Please, please, Phil, listen to the doctors and cooperate.

With Capt.Phil’s job requiring him to sit or be sedentary for long periods of time I doubt that he will be back.The necessary PTT times that go with taking Coumidan levels require at least 2 blood tests every week,being out to sea makes this impossible.Good luck Capt. Phil.

I feel sorry for you that you would actually take the word of your son for anything.Specially business. He is the laziest liar in the fleet. And dont send him to the military. Because one he wouldn’t be able to call his daddy to come and save him. And two they would boot his lazy but out of the service for being a piece of caca momma’s boy. If I were you I would have paid Deadlest Catch producers NOT to have shown my boat on that show. Because it has shown what a selfish mamma’s boy you and your wife have raised. Either keep him at home and pay him for sitting in his room or kick him out so maybe the real world can teach him to be a man. Because it is evident that what you have tried hasn’t worked. You set that Capt. up with a piece of seagull poop to baby sit him so you didn’t have to. So if anyone should have gotten pulled off ot that boat it should have been your crew. Because he soured the whole crew.

I agree, Scott. If you check the “Early Dawn” comments at the pre-season, Capt. Allen Oakley (other co-owner, not Bryan’s father) was scheduled to head the boat for the trip. It also mentions that Bryan Mezich, the co-owner’s son will be the greenhorn for the trip. Suddenly, Capt. Allen steps down and the deck boss, Rick Fehst, will be in charge for the trip. Sounds to me like Capt. Allen knew the kid and how worthless he is, so he stepped aside and let Rick have todeal with it. Frankly, if the immature brat had pulled that crap on my captain, he’d have been on the first plane outta Dutch and given the choice of inlisting or being cut off. Instead, the co-owner gutted his captain and broke every rule of the sea.

It wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t sitting in his chair throwing out the F bombs at his sons! I think Josh is just so terriffic the way he cares about his dad and isn’t shy showing it. The deadliest catch crews needs a little help from the captains pocket, by spending some money on their boats, if by making the superstructure one big radiator (especially the handrails) this would help the crews from chipping ice, ok, maybe it would be expensive to install, but how save would it make the vessels stability, that amount of ice on the vessel will make the boat top heave (Centre of Gravity cannot be far from the Metacentre) and if the vessel has creels onboard would make the vessel condition extremely dangerous, you would think the Canadian Government would make it compulsory in the Fishing Vessel Safety Provisions 1975 rules with an amendment

great show, Is it true that when Discovery is aboard one of the ships, that there is another ship following. Or how are those camera shots taken of the boat from afar in the middle of the ocean.
