Fundraiser held on the Sea Star last weekend 07/19/08

A fundraiser was held on the Sea  star last Saturday 07/19/08 and it was a huge success! With the help of Mark Christopher of B97.3 radio station and some of the seagals and the Shifty Sailors singing group out of Whidbey Island as well as Norman and Edgar Hanson and their deckhand Matt as well as Phil Harris and his boys Jake and Josh as well as  Sten Skaar and his brother John and their deckhands Travis, Terje and D-Bo plus the Sea Star crew, they helped raise over $5,000.00 for The Fishermen’s Memorial which is  a charity that is near and dear to fishermen. The Sea Star crew sincerely wants to thank each and every one of the fans who attended and gave so much to the Memorial!

‘Deadliest Catch’ fans may want to listen up to this!   Mark Christopher, a veteran Seattle radio personality helped put together and execute the fundraising events along with other skippers and has more info on the event plus has an event of his own coming up, along with Sken Skaar of the F/V North American!

From Mark– We held a day of awareness and fund raising for The Seattle Fisherman’s Memorial here at Seattle’s Fishermen’s Wharf, home to most of the DC fleet and current setup for The Sea Star ‘deadliest catch” crab boat tours,  Capt Phil, Josh and Jake (CM) , Edgar, Norman, Matt (NW)

Capt Sten, Travis (NA), Travis (Wiz), Mike and Capt Kenny (Sea Star)  and other longtime fisherman all hung with me and my broadcast event to greet fans, give tours and add the spirit and attention to this great cause.  The Seattle Sea Gals Cheer leaders attended the event and The Shifty Sailors singing group.  See pics above and help yourself to them as well.

Now some added spark……..This Friday at 1pm-2pm, Seattle Time (PDT) Capt. Sten of f/v North American is offering all who listen to ‘B97.3″ radio, all over the Puget Sound and Western Washington…to bid on the following….

Seafair Sunday, Aug 3, to be guest (2) on The North American, with crew and family, with barbeque, to watch the Seafair Airshow and Hydroplanes as part of 2008 Seafair in Seattle. Top bid will be donated, 100%, to The Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial.

All of the tours on Sunday this past week were all donated  ($10 each Adult)…..and with a few silent auction donations we came close to 8-$10,000 in 5 hours, we hope this item will be a monster of a donation in honor of The North American and in memory of Jeff Ness, Brother to David of the NA,  We lost Jeff at the beginning of this last season.
