Capt Keith of the F/V Wizard spent time down in Sarasota, Florida

Posted by opilia on July 20, 2008

Keith Colburn of the F/V Wizard, his family, and part of the Wizard crew spent the fourth of July holiday in Sarasota, Florida, where this skipper has become a favorite!

This year’s 24th Annual Suncoast Offshore Grand Prix Festival was a hugh success for the Suncoast Foundation for the Handicapped and The Florida Center here in Sarasota, FL.  Captains Keith & Monte Colburn along with Deckhand Travis Lofland participated and drew large crowds and signed autographs for hundreds of  Deadliest Catch fans all weekend long.

Capt. Keith and his family received “Keys to the City of Sarasota” by Sarasota’s Vice Mayor Ken Shelin and Captain Monte Colburn joined his brother during the Ceremonial First Pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays vs Red Sox Game on July 2.  Captain Keith was also Grand Marshall in the Festival Parade of Boats.  One of the highlights of the entire weekend was the “Friendliest Catch” Fishing Tournament for the physically and mentally challenged.  Captains Keith and Monte Colburn along with Travis Lofland spent half their day joining clients on fishing vessels during this special catch and release tournament.  Over 100,000 people attended this year’s Festival and want the Wizard Captain and crew back again next year!!
