As you may or may not know, the island of Unalaska is seperate from Dutch Harbor. Dutch Harbor is a tiny island in of itself. The image below shows where on the Dutch Harbor docks the local webcams are located (marked as Coastal Transportation Dock). If you check the webcams from time to time, you can sometimes catch one of the featured “Deadliest Catch” fishing vessels. So try it during daylight hours and see what you can catch!
webcam 1, webcam 2, webcam 3 (please give the links a little extra time to open)

That’s a great map. I had to know this stuff for my sequel to “Heart of the Storm”. Alaska Steve will tell you my use of Google maps was…….not very talented. LOL.
This is a great birdseye view of what the lay of the land is there.
Wow! This is really cool! What fun to look at. Boy, does it look cold! I don’t feel so bad now in this 69 degrees with winds off the mountains now! Thanks for the opportunity to see more of the area we have come to love and watch!
You’re site Rocks Opilia! A hui hou!
I can’t believe you left my place off the map – heheh
Oh I think some of us have a pretty good idea where you live by now, lol….
Hey, Opilla, do you know what up with the webcams? They aren’t showing up now.
hi blake sig andy and all the rest of the crews of the deadliest catch you guys rule lol rose
what happened to web cam 1? Is there a web cam anywhere by westward seafoods? I would really like to see the vixen when it comes to port!!
there should be a webcam is st paul by the processor. that way we could see the ships when they come to offload
what is with camera one. i saw what i believe to be the artic fox pull out today and one other boat i could not identify, but camera one is not working. also could someone tell he people working in the office where the cameras are not to leave the office doors open in the evening. we get a glare off the office windows onto the view and cant see much.
are there any cams near the processors? bee cool to see the offload.
if anyone is watching the webcams or know of other webcams up there or just wants to chat when watching the cams im me at ebru1331@aol.com, anytime day or night.
which white vessel was that on camera 2 on wed the 14th. anyone know.
http://akweathercam.faa.gov/allcams.php this is supposedly a list of the weather cams in alaska.. there is one on st paul island. just scroll down the list until you get to st paul island and click on it. being that it is night time i did not see much but in the am the view should be better. maybe you could see the vessels this way. i will have to wait til am to find out for sure. good luck.
There are good Dutch Harbor area cams at
http://www.alaskatrekker.com/dutchcams.htm
These are good cams of the area. I watch them mostly to see what the weather is like. It includes a view of the wharf, but the field of vision is large enough that there aren’t a lot of details. I can identify the Cornelia Marie by her color, but none of the other boats.
The weather is mostly overcast and rainy/ snowy. Looks VERY cold.
anyone know which boats those are on cam 2 and cam 3 right now? having trouble reading the names and curious to know. ebru1331@aol.com.
I keep seeing the coastal boats but im wondering when the fishing boats come back from opilio or the number of days they are gone average fishing for opilio, so i know when to check back to find them. Thanks if anyone knows email me at ebru1331@aol.com or firefox1331@aol.com. first try ebru then firefox. thanks again
Now…
SHUT UP AND FISH!!!!!
the trekker website doesnt offer much due to the fact that they are positioned too far away. I did try the akweathercam one and it did look a lot better however, Did you say to look at St. Paul? that looks like flat land to me. Am I wrong? I would really like to watch the boats go in and out. Which destination did you see the Artic fox on?
if you go to the top of this page and click on camera 2 there are two boats there now, one i think is the coastal sea and i do not know what the other one is. there is also one on camera 3 but i did not get a name off it as of yet. then on the right hand side of this page in red you will see a link titled web cams. if you click on that you can choose 5 different dock cameras in dutch harbor and 2 others in seattle.
originally we saw the artic fox about 2 weeks ago on camera 3. hope this helps a bit. you can even see a lot of the boats at night because the dock area is well lit up. sincerly brandon.
HEY EVERYONE THE ALLEUTION BALLAD IS ON CAMERA 2 AND CAMERA 4 RIGHT NOW ON FEB 4TH. CAM 2 JUST SHOWS THE BACK HALF OF THE BOAT WHILE THE DECK HANDS ARE UNLOADING THE CRAB POTS, THE VIEW ON CAM 4 SHOWS THE FRONT OF THE BOAT AS WELL WITH THE NAME ON THE FRONT. I HAD TO GO TO CAM 4 TO FIGURE OUT WHAT BOAT IT WAS. THE HARBOR VIEW WEATHER CAMS SHOW 2 MORE BOATS COMING IN AS WELL BUT NOT SURE WHICH ONES YET.
might be the aleution viking not the ballad cannot see the name clearly enough. sorry about that.
Brandon brunette, I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me with the cameras. It was much needed. You are great!
I know that this might sound crazy but I wish that we could track certain boats and see the way that they go and such…out to see and back. I worry. I know sounds kinda like a stalker but it would be interesting to watch them cross paths with other boats and such.
yeah too bad they do not have a link to the radar thing that they use on the show to show the location of each vessel. or a map like the coastal vessels have for tracking. that would be awesome.

Re: What our favorite boats are up to
I just visited the Dutch Harbor Dirt blog. Absolutely riveting! The Cornelia Marie is in StPaul, trapped by the ice. Wizard is in the lead just now with the crab count, CM is just behind Wizard, but NWestern is due to offload and may take the lead. Or not. The pictures are great! There is even a little fox who may be trying to do a bit of sad-eyed mooching…
Some folks have looked in on the StPaul cam and said it looks like a field. Snow field? Folks, it is an FAA aviation cam, and that ‘field’ hosts ‘birds’ of the stick & rudder variety. With the weather just now, I doubt there is much, if any, activity there… Have yet to find a harbor cam. You might want to have a go with the new Google Earth program. I have yet to try it, so don’t know how good the StPaul or Dutch Harbor resolution is. Meanwhile, April IS coming!! Right after the Iditarod.
HI EVERYONE, I FOUND A REALLY COOL FISHING VESSEL TRACKING SITE THAT WILL TRACK ALL KINDS OF VESSELS, INCLUDING THE SOME OF THE DC FISHING VESSELS. LIKE THE ROLLO I JUST TRACKED TO SEATTLE , WA, AND THE FIERCE ALLEGIANCE I THINK IS IN DUTCH IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, ALONG WITH A FEW OTHERS. IT WILL TRACK ALL VELLELS WITHIN 25 MILES OF PORT BUT I READ ONLINE LAST NIGHT THAT THEY HAVE ACTUALLY TRACKED SOME UP TO 200 MILES FROM A PORT. ANYWAY THE SITE IS http://WWW.MARINETRAFFIC.COM(I THINK) CHECK IT OUT. LET ME KNOW IF YOU TRACK ANY OF THE DC VESSELS . I AM INTERESTED IN SEEING WHO IS WHERE BUT CANNOT ALWAYS BE NEAR MY PC BECAUSE I HAVE A 4 YR OLD BOY AND A 15 YR OLD BOY(THOSE WITH KIDS UNDERTAND THIS) AND NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON THEM. MY E MAIL IS ebru1331@aol.com. LAST I HEARD THE NW WAS ON ITS WAY TO SEATTLE BUT I HAVE NOT SEEN TRACKING FOR IT YET AND THAT WAS A FEW DAYS AGO. SO ANY UPDATES ON ANY OF THE DC VESSELS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. HERE’S TO SEASON 5.
WATCHING THE BEST OF SEASONS SHOWS TONITE i AM SEEING ALL THOSE HUGE WAVES GOING OVER THE DECKS OF THE FISHING VESSELS AND HITTING THE WHEELHOUSE WINDOWS. CANNOT HELP BUT WONDER IF THAT WATER FREEZES TO THE WINDOWS LIKE IT DOES OUR CAR WINDOWS REQUIRING SCRAPING. HOW DO THE CAPTAINS SEE ANYTHING WITH ALL THOSE WAVES COMING IN. I GUESS WHAT I AM WONDERING IS DO THE FISHING VESSELS HAVE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON THEM? OR DO THE SKIPPERS SPEND THE TIME IT TAKES TO KEEP CLEARING THE WINDOWS ALL THE TIME? WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW THIS. I AM ONLY 15 AND WANT TO LEARN A BIT ABOUT THIS. ANY RESPONSES WOULD BE FINE.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT STORES CARRY THE NEW CAPT SIG SEAFOOD PRODUCTS? PLEASE HELP ME OUT AND LET ME KNOW. I LIVE IN WISCONSIN AND WAS PLANNING ON HAVEING IT FOR DINNER WITH SOME FRIENDS TONITE DURING THE PREMIRE AS A DEADLIEST CATCH PARTY. HOWEVER I CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE AND MY GROCER IS MYSTERIOUSLY OUT OF CRAB HMMMM. SO IF ANYONE KNOWS WHICH CHAINS CARRY IT PLEASE E MAIL ME AT ebru1331@aol.com. thank you very much and enjoy the premire tonite. sincerly brandon.
Walmart supercenters. Call the closest one to you and ask if they have it. I was able to get it in Iowa.
PHIL WAS SUPPOSED TO LEAVE WA FOR DUTCH HARBOR TODAY OCTOBER 2ND, 2009. NOT SURE ABOUT THE OTHER BOATS. ANYONE WITH ADDITIONAL INFO PLEASE POST.
hey everyone, if anyone knows why the live ships map does not show dutch harbor and the bering sea this year please let us all know. is there another ship tracking system or site we are missing this year? last year they all showed up on there, and this year it is blank for the whole alaska area. i am wondering why? my e mail is ebru1331@aol.com if anyone has some answers. thank you.
I found another camera steaming from a local who lives there and as I read his site, manages the grand aleautian hotel and helps film for deadliest catch. His name is Dan his site is http://www.danslife.net and the camera is at webcam.danslife.net Is this the same dan that the coast guard picked up last summer when he hiked across the island
What would be nice is audio feed from HF 2182 kHz and channel 16 vhf
Hallo

HI ALL, SURE IS DIFFERENT FROM WHEN I LANDED IN THE BAY AT DUTCH ON JUNE 18, 1942 FROM CHERNOFSKI BAY AND RETURN IN VP-43 PBY-5 BU # O4441 WITH ENS CLARK DRIVING AS WE JOINED VP-41 AND VP-42 HARASSING THE JAPANESE WHO HAD MOVED INTO KISKA AND ATTU AS THEY BOMBED DUTCH A FEW DAYS BEFORE. NEVER SEEN ANY ICE IN THE BAY EITHER IN THE WINTER OF 42/42 BEFORE WE MOVED TO ADAK 8 JAN 43 WITH PBY-5A’s. THAT WAS A NEAT RUNWAY BACK THEN AT DUTCH–THANK GOD FOR THE SEABEES!
WE HAD LOTS OF FUN UP AND DOWN THE CHAIN SIGHTSEEING AND BOMBING DAY AND NIGHT TO KEEP THEM ON EDGE AS THEY EVENTUALLY LEFT IN JUNE OF 43 THEN WE RETURNED TO CONCUS FOR NEW ASSIGNMENTS.
SATB GB BILL, VP-43 AMM1c PLANE CAPTAIN CREW 6.
